Wait… that wasn’t summer vacation?

Can anybody believe it’s less than a week away from Valentine’s Day? Seems like we just finished summer vacation. Wait, that was just the crazy spring like weather we have been having in the middle of the winter. Not that I’m complaining… I love warm weather and sun shine!

(to eliminate any confusion this is not my back, front, or side yard)

I’ve been working on a little something for ML for Valentine’s day but wanted to wait until next week to share about it. I’ll give you a hint though. It’s not flowers, chocolates or any other type of food. Valentine’s Day is really a horrible holiday to follow New Years where so many people make resolutions to eat healthier!

It’s really not that big of a deal to ML and me though. I mean, I am going to make him a little something but that’s it. I don’t expect any flowers or lavish night out from him. Why? Should I doubt his love for me? Of course not! We just don’t feel we need a holiday to remind us to show our love for each other. For instance, he is going to be really surprised I remembered this, but he brings me flowers on the 10th of every month to celebrate our marriage (3.10.07, five years next month). Normally I lose track of the date and he completely surprises me. Also, we have a special night out planned for next weekend to see Wicked!!! So there’s plenty of special moments coming up.

We enjoy spending a romantic Valentine’s night at home anyway. This way we get to avoid the waits at restaurants and crowds at the movies and just spend time with each other. I’ll probably make a special dessert though. Who doesn’t love an excuse to have a special treat!

(so as not to spoil the surprise, this is not what I will make)

So don’t consider us Valentine Scrooges but we are saving the cards, flowers and special night out for other days… like our anniversary!

What about you? Date night out or in? Any special Valentine’s Day traditions? Are you making something special for your significant other?

FYI: I updated the Our Home page with more pictures.

Hi! Visiting from Ashley’s blog. I can’t wait to see what kind of Valentine you’ve got worked up. I’m terrible at this holiday and need a good idea. Will be back next week to see!

Well I don’t have a significant other so I spend my Valentine’s night rock climbing! 🙂 It’s something I love and hey, there might be a cute single guy there and chances are if he’s there on Valentine’s he’s probably single right? 😉 cute blog!!

Rock climbing sounds fun! Maybe you will meet the man of your dreams… if not at least you will have had a fun night.

I know what you mean. I still haven’t come up with anything to cook for tomorrow night. Not because it’s Valentine’s Day but because we are out of food and I need to go to the grocery store!
