Last week I shared with you the chaos that our master bedroom was undergoing. Originally, we planned to be completely through painting and ready to blog about it at the beginning of the week. But things Olympics happen. Seriously has anybody else had trouble not watching the Olympics every night? Even if you only want to watch one event NBC strings you along so that four hours later you find yourself still glued to the TV and even shedding a tear as the medalist sings along to the national anthem. Way to go #FabFive!
Anyway, somewhere in the midst of the 2012 Olympic Games (commercial breaks and beach volleyball mainly) I found time to finish the trim and give our doors a new coat of paint. And now… because it’s probably a miracle if you’re still reading this without skipping to the pictures first here is what our bedroom looks like!
I love it! To clue you in on my excitement, I probably am as excited about our new room as a little kid is on Christmas morning. I mean to go from this…
to this…
is such a refreshing change.
The paint color is Sherwin Williams Rain.
FYI: Every time I think about this color, I hear this in my head.
Talk about a Flash Back Friday.
The soft blue compliments the reds found in the wood of the furniture. The whole room feels so much larger and has such a calming atmosphere now. Every time I walk in the room I feel like I am walking into a completely different space. It’s amazing what a little paint will do!
Ok, so at this point you are probably thinking, “Are there any more pictures?” Well you see I got so picture happy that I didn’t have time to edit all the pictures in time for today’s post. I’ll be back early next week for the complete room reveal as well as a few other changes we made to the room.
In the meantime, below is the inspiration picture I pinned sometime last year.

I loved the light color of the paint. When ML and I selected a color we decided to go with a color that had the same tonal value but was more blue instead of green. We both agree that we made the right decision. It wouldn’t have been as much fun to go from dark green to light green walls.
It’s nice to finally have all the painting supplies put away and get to enjoy our newish room. Now all I need is a good rainy Saturday so that I can sleep in and enjoy the Rain!
Has anybody else had trouble completing any DIY projects, housework, or anything else because of the Olympics? Was anybody else a fan of Alanis Morissette back in the 90’s?

OMG!! I loved that song!! I definitely was a fan of Alanis….she has such a cool vibe about her.
I have been having trouble keeping up with just about everything now that it’s summer!! Plus I am a major procrastinator so the combo has had much get put on the backburner.
I love your inspiration photo..good luck with your project!
Thank you! I am a huge procrastinator too. It’s so hard to overcome… Even though I desperately want to be organized. Summer does make it really hard to stay focused.
Love your bedroom! I absolutely love the calming feeling that the color creates.
I have had so much trouble getting to bed because of the Olympics. I keep telling myself that I will go to bed no later than 10, but the good stuff doesn’t end until 11! Argh…
Thanks, Trista! We keep telling ourselves we are going to bed earlier every night and it has yet to happen. I did turn it off right after I knew Gabby had the gold last night. She is just too cute! I hate how they never show a full event and save the best for last every night.
I don’t think the green looked bad 🙂 but I like the blue too! It’s nice to have a change up every now and then. Girl you know we’ve been dragging out these floors. Ugh! haha I just have to think about the end product and how good it’ll look!
Thanks! I didn’t dislike the green either. I just thought the blue would help the room reach its full potential. Plus who doesn’t love a change.
Your floors are a big undertaking. I completely understand them taking a while. It will all be worth it though.
Beeeeeautiful! The blue is so calming and serene.
Thank you! Calming is exactly what I was going for. A bedroom should be peaceful… especially for those rare morning when you get to lay in bed and enjoy it.
Love that color! I have a LOT of blue in my house 🙂 Totally distracted by the Olympics and am loving it!
I know. I wish sports were this interesting all the time. My favorite part is really when they visit they interview the athletes and give me all the background history on them. It’s all so interesting!
The color is lovely and brightened that room so well!! That bed is a killer…amazing!
Thanks! I bought the bed after college with some money I had saved up. For some reason it reminds me of Beauty and the Beast… I think it’s the armoire.
Thanks! The bed was a little splurge I made before we got married. I love it!
The blue looks amazing!! Megan
Thanks! It’s a shame I let it sit in the can for a year. I’m enjoying it now though.
Your new paint color is so pretty. The blue looks great with your gorgeous bed.
Thank you! I think it works well with the bed too. It’s nice to see the bed getting to shine.
So lovely! I especially like your new wall lamps! I’ve been doing things (like, you know, vacuuming) during beach volleyball too. 🙂
Haha! I know what you mean. I saw the other day where they have a trampoline event. It would be cool if they covered that instead of water polo or weight lifting. I told ML he might have a shot in the trampoline event!
Very pretty and definitely calming! I don’t know if it’s the Olympics or what, but I can’t seem to get anything done lately!
Your new room is lovely! Last night was our first chance to watch any of the games and we were totally sucked in, even thought we were both exhausted. Go USA! I loved the shots of Princess Kate.
NBC has a way of doing that to you. We have stayed way past our bedtime every night.
