Sweaters for Apes

First off, I would like to thank everyone for all the love, support, and encouragement of our adoption announcement. I was blown away by the number of you that took time out of your day to hear what God is doing in our lives. Thank you!

In other not so interesting news I managed to distract myself this past weekend with starting back to work on crocheting Noah’s sweater.

Update: It has taken me so long that it will no longer fit her and will instead become a nice purple sweater for Armstrong the ape.

Yes, I do realize that a purple sweater isn’t really fit for a guy but he already wears a tutu! Shhh… we won’t tell Noah.

Honestly I hoped to have more to show for it by now than I do but I have had to start over numerous times. I think I am finally getting the hang of it though and have been pinning away at different projects I would like to try a hook hand at.

Here are some of the cute ideas I have found on Pinterest…

I mean who can resist a sock monkey afghan?

If I start on this now I might have it finished by the time she reaches three years old. It’s beautiful though.

Seriously, no one is safe this Christmas. Crochet gifts here we come.

For any new moms or about to be moms out there leg warmers are the best! So much easier to change a diaper with them and just too adorable. I could probably whip up a few pair for Noah.

At least I don’t have to worry about the doll outgrowing any clothes I make her.

So there you have it… this is the crocheting nerd I have become. Now if you will excuse me I need to go put my glasses on and pull my hair back in a bun and finish that sweater!

What distracting projects have you been working on lately? Do you have a craft or hobby that consumes all your time when you are working on it? Or maybe you are just one of the cool kids.

Oh my goodness, I love the sock monkey afghan! Too cute!!! Maybe one day I’ll learn to crochet, but for now I’m just making orders for my mom to make stuff! Little does she know, she’s getting patterns and yarn for her birthday! 🙂

I think Armstrong will look great in a purple sweater! Yes, my crew knows that when I get into a yarn mood . . . no one is safe. Happy crocheting!!

Oh no, that’s too bad that it won’t fit anymore! =(
I love the leg warmers. It really is a great idea. I was thinking about making Kevin some, but is that too girly? I can make them “manly!” They just make sense to wear with onesies and to keep their chubby little legs warm.
I am currently knitting Kevin a blanket (and I started, took apart, and restarted about 10 times!!).

I don’t think leg warmers are too girly. We used them last winter with Noah and lived them. If I had a boy I would definitely use them. I can’t imagine taking off pants that many times a day.
I think it’s so cool that you knit… I would love to see some stuff you have made.
