Family Friday: How I Read Blogs

Blogging is one of my favorite hobbies.  That’s right a hobby because I can assure you I am not striking it rich telling you about the latest paint color we chose for the house or what latest craft I came up with.  It is fun though and I deeply enjoy it and all the wonderful people I have met through it.

Most of my time writing here at Color Transformed Family and reading other blogs is done during Noah’s nap time. Which means I have no clue what I am going to do when she stops taking naps someday.  Late night blogging sessions maybe?  Projects are usually done during the weekends or at night after Noah has gone to sleep.  It really just depends on how many other activities we have had going on and how much energy we have.  ML and I are not Energizer bunnies.

Blogging introduces you to many other bloggers and friends.  It would be hard to keep up with all of their blogs if I didn’t use Bloglovin’.

Bloglovin' snapshot

“For those of you who aren’t familiar with blog readers, they aggregate the latest posts from a person’s website subscriptions into one long email or web-based article. This makes blog reading less laborious and more discreet which, I understand, is completely necessary for those who enjoy a little blog-reading while on the clock at work.”  Elle @ Nutritionella

Before Bloglovin’ I used Google Reader but switched after I heard such great reviews.  Bloglovin’ gives you a preview of each post and allows you to actually comment on the post you just read. Which is huge because we bloggers love comments.  It’s nice to know we are writing to brick wall or a sleeping toddler for that matter.  Comments give us the motivation to keep on typing.  I’m also happy that I switched because Google Reader is being shut down at the end of the month!

So if Google Reader is what you use to keep up with your bloggers Switch Now!  If you need help check out these posts.

Bye Bye Google Reader, Hello Bloglovin’

Before Google Reader I used an RSS feed. Which works great except again you can’t comment on posts through the reader.  Plus when I first started using my RSS feed I didn’t know that you could set the number of unread posts for the reader to keep up with.  Let’s just say I might have crashed my computer at work a few times because it was to busy fetching hundreds of unread posts.  So far this has not been a problem with Bloglovin’.

Bloglovin’ isn’t your only option of keeping up with Color Transformed Family.  Links to the post are made available on both Color Transformed Family’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.  So if Bloglovin’ isn’t your thing those are both good ways to keep up to date.  Occasionally, I pin a post to Pinterest if I think someone might be interested in it and every once in a while I share that there is a new post available on Instagram.  And then there’s the old fashion way of keeping up with the blog… just type in your toolbar at the top of the page. That will always bring you right here.

Links to all of these options are available through hyperlink in the post above as well as below my signature at the end of the post.  You can also get there by clicking one of the buttons on the side bar under the “Follow Me” section.

Anyway you get here I’m just thrilled that you keep reading.  Thanks for stopping by and checking in!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Do you have any big plans?  How do you keep up with Color Transformed Family?
