Yesterday we took Noah to Mother’s Choice to meet her sister. Leading up to this we wondered what Noah really thought about Esther. Was she just a girl in a photograph like Dora or Minnie Mouse? Or did Noah realize that Esther is actually a real live girl that she would one day physically hug and touch. Just like we may never know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop we may never know what know what Noah believed prior to yesterday. All that matters is that Noah welcomed her with open arms.
Noah spent the morning playing with Esther and the other children at Mother’s Choice. Even sitting down to eat lunch with them. It was a great first bonding morning for the two of them. Throughout the morning Noah would lean over and hug or kiss Esther. It melted mine and Michael Luke’s hearts to see her fall so easily into the role of sister.
That afternoon Esther came back to the hotel room with us for a few hours. Both of the girls feel asleep on the subway back to the hotel!
Noah never woke up but Esther did as soon as we got back. It worked out great because we got some time alone with Esther. For the most part she didn’t want much to do with us and quietly played to herself but we enjoyed just being alone with her.
Fun times will come eventually. We did get a glimpse of what is to come when her social worker came back later that afternoon. Within a few minutes she was giggling and goofing off because she felt safe with her social worker there.
Once Esther finally comes out of her shell we will have our work cut out for us. She and Noah are so much alike in their personalities. Both are independent and know exactly what they want. That should make things easy right? Haha!

That picture of Esther by the window is so cute. She does seem so independent standing there with her little purse!
