Last Monday my oldest, Esther, turned four years old!  I don’t think it has actually hit me that she’s really four now.  Four.  Somebody make it stop.

Time doesn’t stop though so we chose to celebrate it.  Michael Luke, the girls, and I went out for her birthday dinner the night before her birthday.  Like Noah, Esther got to choose any type of food she wanted for her special meal.  Noah chose Chinese food for her big day and Esther chose cheeseburgers and french fries.  Some of you may catch the irony in that.

Esther picked the food and Michael Luke and I picked the restaurant… Huey’s.  Huey’s is a local Memphis restaurant with several locations around town.  Sunday nights at our local Huey’s includes (loud) live music.  Which may not seem like the best place to take your four year old but then again it does ensure that you aren’t the loudest ones there.

The band dedicated a song to Esther and she danced her heart away in our booth.

Burgers were eaten… unless you were Noah and had chicken tenders, and fries were enjoyed.  Oh, and one of the perks of taking your kids there is that they get free ice cream as part of the kid’s meal.  Score!

Esther opened a few presents including one from Kai-Ma.  We went ahead and let Esther open one of ours… a Fancy Nancy book, the theme of her birthday party later that week.

Where did you spend your last birthday? Mine was family at an impromptu cook out.  Esther insisted there be cake and ice cream.
