18 Months of Laundry Detergent

I won’t be posting much this week but that doesn’t mean I’m just laying around doing nothing. Wouldn’t that be nice?  One of the things on my to-do list for the week is to make a new batch of laundry detergent.

DIY laundry detergent that lasts 18 months!

I gave a review of the recipe I used last year and estimated that it would last me twelve months.

Well, I’m happy to announce that my twenty dollar supply of homemade detergent lasted me eighteen months (six more than expected)!  That equals out to roughly $1.11 a month for detergent averaging washing six loads a week.  I’m not sure how much of a savings that is over store bought detergent buy my guess is that I saved some major cash.  Which is pretty good especially for how well it cleans.  Sometimes I may have a stubborn stain or two but usually nothing a little Spray and Wash can’t handle… except for banana stains.  Do any of you Moms out there have advice on how to remove banana stains?

If you are interested in saving a little dough and making your own detergent check out this post.  There you can also find out why I was able to use it on Noah’s newborn clothes but chose not to for her cloth diapers.  In the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July.  I’m not sure if I’ll be back for Family Friday or not this week so wherever you are I hope God blesses you with a little sun and relaxation later this week!  Happy Birthday America!
