Ever since we really started making progress on our kitchen remodel last year my kitchen has become my favorite room in the house. I love how much larger it feels now that the walls are painted yellow, and the cabinets a soft gray… not too mention my counters that pretty much take my breath away every time I walk in. Who knew laminate could be so desirable?
Work on the kitchen was pretty much at a stand still for the last part of 2013 until we installed under cabinet lighting. I don’t have any photos of the process but it was a minimal investment from IKEA that has made cooking even more fun. I sort of feel like a chef now. I really should take some pictures of it all lit up for you because telling you about them really won’t do our work any justice.
In the meantime, lets look at some pictures of other small upgrades we have been making in the kitchen. In case you’ve forgotten or you new here at Color Transformed Family (hi!) Michael Luke and are procrastinators. Procrastinators to the core… and when you put two procrastinators together you get huge project delays. Which brings us to our project of installing a new pendant light above the sink.I don’t remember when the light actually came in but I know we have had it since before Christmas! Procrastinators, I tell you. Earlier this month, ML ran across a little free time that he didn’t know what to do with and decided to finally install our pendant light.
Ah!!!! It was such an easy install and payed off big time with the end result. Even he couldn’t believe it and was a little bummed he had waited so long.
For a little refresher here’s our previous pendant light. Not too shabby but it wasn’t exactly what we were looking for in our kitchen transformation.
The best part was that our new pendant light only set us back $50 (plus shipping).
So where did I find this pendant? It was actually featured as part of an install in a magazine clipping that I had. I don’t have the clipping any more but I had it saved to show ML what I was picturing for above the sink. He usually needs a few more visuals than I do. Anyway, one day I was looking at my clipping and noticed that the source for it was given. It was the Young House Love Bubble Glass Pendant from Shades of Light. Now I love Young House Love and had admired their lighting collection before but had never wanted to purchase a light fixture for the sole reason of being a groupie. But when I discovered that I liked the light before knowing who had designed it and that I really couldn’t beat the price I shared my finding with ML and the rest is history.
And now for a little picture to brighten your day! 🙂
